In calculating the earthquake action on a structure, modal analysis is very important, especially for high-rise buildings. Typically, the structure has three main modes: two modes in translation direction and one in torsion. This study presented a seismic analysis of high rise buildings using SP 14.13330.2014 (SP) with consideration of those structural modes, which are not fully included in TCVN 9386:2012. The model of 15 storey office building was analyzed using structural software for building analysis ETABS 2017 software. The seismic responses such as storey shear force, internal forces in column section were numerically evaluated. The analysis results show that, the effect of torsion mode on the building subjected to earthquake is not really significant when evaluating damage and danger to people living in it.
